The Bedford community is mourning the loss of 17-year-old Tyson Bolduc, a student-athlete and popular member of the Bedford High School class of 2023. Bolduc tragically passed away Sunday night in a vehicle-related incident, just one day after his high school graduation.
According to police reports, Bolduc was a passenger in a moving vehicle when, around 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, he exited the car while it was still in motion on Wallace Road, near Stagecoach and Candy Lane. Emergency responders rushed him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from the injuries he sustained.
The tragedy comes at a time of celebration, as Bolduc had just graduated from Bedford High School the day prior. In a letter to the school community, Principal Robert Josokos confirmed the devastating news on Monday morning, expressing the school’s sorrow over the loss of the junior.
“I’m writing about the death of a BHS student. The student died from injuries related to a vehicle. I have no other details,” Josokos wrote. “Students were informed about the student’s passing in Advisory this morning. The school counseling office is open all day for students who need support.”
Bolduc was well-known in the Bedford community not only for his academic success but also as a passionate student-athlete. He had been a member of the Bedford Bulldogs 9U football team and had made lasting impressions on both his teammates and coaches. His friends remember him as a kind-hearted and driven individual with a bright future ahead of him.
Bedford School District Superintendent Michael Fournier expressed the emotional toll the tragedy has had on both students and staff, especially as students prepared for finals.
“We have a number of students who knew the junior. And so they’re out today, and we are excusing many of those students from their finals,” Fournier said. “When you walk through the hallways, the teachers and the staff are just, sad.”
Counseling services were made available for students who needed emotional support, with the school prioritizing student well-being over exams during this difficult time.
“The young man was a junior, so he’s been at the high school for three years and had made a great impression on staff and students, a lot of friends,” Fournier said. “And so, it’s very difficult. Of course, for his family and for those who knew him.”
In the wake of the tragedy, members of the Bedford community gathered Monday afternoon along Wallace Road to create a roadside memorial in honor of Bolduc. Friends, family, and local residents laid flowers and shared memories, paying their respects to the young man whose life was cut short too soon.
Local police briefly closed Wallace Road on Sunday night while investigating the incident. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the vehicle exit is ongoing.
Bolduc’s family has requested privacy during this heartbreaking time. School officials and community leaders are offering their condolences to the family and are rallying around them in support.
Tyson Bolduc will be remembered as a beloved member of the Bedford High School community, and his untimely death has left a void that will be felt by all who knew him.
